Hiatus

As hard a decision to make as this was, I'm feeling pretty good about it. I'll be taking a break from Blurry Grand Rapids for an indefinite period of time. I'll still be blogging, but my focus for the near future will not be taking blurry pictures of Grand Rapids. And it's not just this blog: most of them will be on hiatus as I try to get down to serious business in my personal life and on my minijonb.blogspot.com blog... swing by and say hi.

Wilcox Park

Sorry, no bonus points available today. Just a few photos of snow angels in Wilcox Park on the southeast side of Grand Rapids. I made the angels last night with Lit-girl. My photos are appropriately blurry... the photos she took are in focus =:-)

You can find more adventures of JB and Lit-girl at minijonb - a blog slightly less blurry than this one.

Blurry Uptown

A few of the definitions of Grand Rapids neighborhoods are fuzzy in my head, especially Uptown. It lies somewhere between Downtown and Heritage Hill to the west and Eastown and East Grand Rapids to the east. If you can tell where in Uptown this photo was taken, please let me know. Another 100 bonus points are up for grabs on this quiz.

Blurry Heartside

Back again for a limited engagement, it's the Blurry Grand Rapids pop quiz. Time to see if I really enjoy being the master of Internet nonsense when it comes to strange views of Grand Rapids neighborhoods. If you think you know on which block in the Heartside District this photo was taken, leave a comment. If you get the right answer, 100 shiny bonus points are yours.

Gaslight Village as a Sim City project

I took these photos at the end of August... and promptly forgot to publish them here. The first two were taken on a hazy night as the "sculpture" at the center of the Gaslight Village redevelopment was only partially complete. The last two pix were taken about a week later with the "spinnaker" at the center of the "sails" in front of the fountain.

Under the Radar

I've been hiding under the radar for a while. I've had business to take care of on other blogs and away from the blogosphere. I also discovered that trying to post blurry pictures of Grand Rapids daily and then running a quiz drained certain resources away from where they are needed. In the future, I might try to something more on the order of once a week here at Blurry Grand Rapids.

I noticed something shocking tonight. If you do a Google Blog search on "blurry grand rapids" you'll find this blog without a problem. If you do a Google Image search on those terms... well, you get these 4 photos. That's it. Blurry photos of a concert. None of my photos show up in the results. I need to do a little checking on what kind of meta info (if any) I can add to this blog to fix this situation.

Thanks to everyone who drops by here. I'll try to post new photos, stories and quizzes in the coming weeks and months.

Name That Intersection

I'm going to try a new featured quiz here at Blurry Grand Rapids: Name That Intersection. I'll post a photo of an intersection in town and you get to name it to gain valuable bonus points. Easy one here. For today's quiz, I'll even post two pictures of the intersection so there is no doubt of its location. 10 bonus points to the winner.

Eastown Landmarks

Here are a couple of photos from my Eastown series that were too easy to use as for a quiz. The top photo is of Smitty's. The bottom photo is of Kava House. The outdoor seating and the people hanging out at Kava is a great example of what makes Eastown a great neighborhood.
